We may be going through life carrying templates and belief systems that may once have been adaptive and useful but do not serve us well now. Talk therapy brings to light what we think about ourselves and what parts we may want to change, such as anxious, fearful, and angry parts.
You can start with a no-cost introductory session to see how psychotherapy can create change.
Currently I am providing therapy sessions online. I will provide you with a link to my video platform, Doxy, and all you have to do is click on it. We start where you want to start. It may be assessing your bodily state. Do you feel energetic, anxious, do your muscles feel tense? Or do you feel flat and your muscles are flaccid and loose. Perception of these bodily states heightens awareness of what state we are in and what therapeutic strategies should be used.
Another way we bring your self into view can also begin with just listening to your personal story. Your life story is unique and that exploration shared with another can lead to insights and, most importantly, self-compassion, which is a pathway to healing.
My training is in psychodynamic therapy, a depth therapy. My therapy approach is combined with my life experience of observing and being curious about how our development across the life span and intergenerational influences both facilitate and impair our functioning in the world. These influences are expressed in our relationships, career choices, and the feelings we have about ourselves.
Getting started is easy and uncomplicated. Contact me by email or text and we will book a no-cost session to determine your needs and your availability. Evening sessions are available for those that have busy daytime schedules.
