About
Many people come to therapy feeling stuck in patterns they can’t quite understand—repeating the same relationship dynamics, feeling overwhelmed by emotions that seem disproportionate, or sensing there’s more to life than they’re currently experiencing.
Good psychotherapy helps us find new ways of being in the world. We can come to better understand our emotions, and even discover and integrate parts of ourselves we’ve forgotten or disconnected from. Therapy helps when we feel encumbered by past hurts, and long for liberation from memories that ensnare us. It opens the door for change. Therapy is a means of growing in ways we’ve sometimes not even thought possible.
How? As a psychotherapist, I work via a process of supported self-inquiry. I assist you in widening access to your own insight, in listening to yourself with new interest. This shared conversation becomes a resource for your efforts to create ways of living with less struggle.
This kind of work helps us to live a life that reflects more depth of feeling and a greater sense of vitality.
Therapy is not about “fixing” you. It is a process of aiding you to know yourself in new ways as you become more fully who you already are.
Good psychotherapy is more than just a tool for coping—it can be transformational. But how?
Therapy is a pathway to discovering new ways of being in the world. Through therapy, we learn to understand our emotions more deeply, connect with parts of ourselves we may have disconnected from, and build healthier, more authentic relationships. When we create space for reflection, we open the door to personal growth in ways we may have never thought possible.
The benefits of therapy often reach beyond the individual. As we grow in self-awareness, emotional resilience, and relational skills, the positive effects ripple out to our loved ones, friends, and colleagues. Therapy helps us work, live, and love in ways that feel more connected, intentional, and fulfilling.
At its heart, therapy is about reclaiming a life with more depth of feeling and a greater sense of vitality. If you’re here, considering this journey, I commend your courage and commitment to yourself. This is the first step toward meaningful change—one you don’t have to take alone.
I specialize in both individual and couples work. I work in person, online, and by phone.
Individual therapy: Typically I meet with individuals once or twice weekly for 55-minute sessions during which we discuss whatever you, the client, bring in to address. Through reflective conversation we work toward increasing your sense of authentic living, a life lived with more purpose and choice.
As a psychodynamic therapist, I focus on medium-to-long-term therapy with individuals, carried out with empathy, compassion, and deep listening. In a safe and confidential setting, we work at a pace you determine. Individual therapy rates: $150/session.
Couples therapy: In the words of poet John Donne, “No man is an island.” Connected, close relationships and strong bonds are essential to our lives.
If you and your partner find yourselves caught in patterns of distress and conflict, couples therapy can be a powerful resource for creating a more secure emotional connection. Sessions are 55 minutes long. Couples therapy rates: $180/session.
My formal education and training includes a Master of Arts degree and graduate studies in the history and theory of psychoanalysis, followed by rigorous training and clinical experience at Toronto’s Centre for Training in Psychotherapy. I now serve on the faculty of CTP.
My work also includes psychotherapy with couples, based on both attachment-informed approaches resting on my training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, along with my psychodynamic and psychoanalytically informed training.
I am recognized by the CRPO as a supervisor, and currently I provide clinical supervision to individuals and groups.
Currently, I am an analyst in training at the Toronto Institute for Psychoanalysis.
Finally, I also draw on personal experience of having deeply benefitted from therapeutic work. It enables me to listen to clients from a place of empathy with what it’s like to live with struggle—while also having known the rewards of increased openness and vitality, based on finding therapy to be an agent of change in my life.
