Welcome! I use evidence-based methods to work with patients experiencing issues such as anxiety, depression, loneliness, self-criticism and relationship issues including family difficulties. My approach is insight-oriented and focuses on assisting clients to understand their thoughts, behaviours and emotions.  This method of psychotherapy allows for lasting and meaningful change.

Psychotherapy involves clarifying ideas about who we are and who we would like to be by giving words to experiences, memories and emotions that we have not been able to find on our own. Through finding new understanding, this process will lead to improvements in your well-being.

My approach is primarily psychodynamic. This depth-oriented approach to therapy focuses on helping you gain insight into your thoughts, behaviours, and emotions, allowing you to live with more choice, clearer intent and contentment. Psychodynamic psychotherapy is an evidence-based practice that has been shown to provide lasting and meaningful change.

I provide psychotherapy for adolescent and adult populations. I have advanced training in several therapeutic modalities including psychodynamic psychotherapy and trauma-informed psychotherapy, so that I can align my approach with your individual needs and goals.

I’m a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers.  I completed a Master of Social Work at Wayne State University specializing in interpersonal practice and psychodynamic psychotherapy.  I also hold a Master of Arts from the University of Ottawa and an Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Toronto.

Most extended benefits plans provide coverage for psychotherapy services delivered by a registered social worker (RSW).  After each session, you will be provided with an invoice so that you can file with your insurance provider for reimbursement.

To answer any questions you may have about therapy before booking an initial appointment, I offer 15-minute phone consultations free of charge.

I welcome you to call me at 289-206-8832 or email me at toddbahartley@gmail.com to setup a phone consultation so that I can answer any questions you may have before booking an initial appointment. Please note: Currently, there are only appointments available Monday and Thursday afternoons and evenings.  All other times have a waitlist.
