Have you ever wondered why the same life event can affect two people completely differently? Why some people bounce back and even flourish from adversity, while others struggle even when there is no obvious hindrance? Have you wished for things to be different, or to feel differently, but don’t know how to get there?
How we experience life, relationships, hardship, and opportunity is greatly influenced by our experiences growing up. Early experiences lay out a pattern, a type of map that helps determine how we see the world and ourselves within it, long after we leave childhood behind.
Our early experiences can also lead us to develop ways of being that, while adaptive in our past, may no longer serve us so well in the present. These can include addictions, painful relationship patterns, habits we cannot seem to change, and emotional states and thinking patterns that cause us pain and suffering.
You cannot change the past, but you have the power to change how you feel about it. You have the ability to change how your past affects your present and your future. You do not have to remain hostage to your early experiences.
Therapy offers a gateway to this kind of change. As we explore what has brought you to who you are today, and what has been holding you back, things can begin to shift and change. New perspectives and new strengths can emerge, setting you on the road to achieving the changes you want.
I offer a safe and confidential space in which you can work at your own pace towards the life that you want. To help you get there, I draw from different psychotherapeutic modalities to find what works best for you. Everyone is unique, therefore every therapy is different.
You hold within yourself everything you need to get to where you want to go. It will be our task, together, to help you gently find, develop, and nourish those parts of you that will lead to the change you want. It is my hope that you will find the work enormously rewarding and life affirming.
My work as a therapist is enhanced by my corporate career in clinical and pharmaceutical research. This has given me valuable knowledge of medical models for treating mental illness, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and ADHD.
This allows me to help clients who are on medication or contemplating medication to navigate between different treatment modalities. Understanding what therapy can do, versus what medication can do, is crucial to making the best decisions related to your wellbeing.
I continue to engage in ongoing training and education. I remain deeply excited about finding different ways to work with clients and helping them achieve the best life possible.
I offer 60-minute sessions in my office in Toronto, and see clients weekly for medium to long-term therapy. This allows for the best and fastest progress possible. Ninety-minute sessions are also available. Skype and phone sessions can be arranged once a therapy is under way.
My rate is $130 per 60-minute session. I work in English and Spanish.
