Psychodynamic psychotherapy is an exploratory talk therapy that maintains a belief in something called an unconscious. We experience awareness of the world both unconsciously and consciously, and these processes interact dynamically within us and influence our ways of being with and in the world. Sometimes, things that remain outside of our conscious awareness can play a part in what is troubling us.

Psychotherapy provides a non-judgemental space for you to be heard and stirred. The accompaniment of your therapist can help you safely and effectively explore the thoughts, memories, feelings, and desires that may be difficult for you to acknowledge and express otherwise.

You may be in need of a healing practice to address wounds that remain as the after-effects of traumatic experiences.  Your need for therapy may stem from a desire for personal growth. You may also be drawn to therapy by feelings you cannot yet define. Sometimes, you cannot know what you need until someone else recognizes it and helps you get it.

In the therapeutic conversation it can become possible to catch sight of what has eluded recognition in your conscious awareness yet continues to contribute to your difficulties. Effective psychotherapy can help you re-integrate loose ends calling for closure and re-establish access to your own wealth of inner resources as you move forward into better ways of living.

During your therapy sessions, we engage in a therapeutic conversation unique to you and your concerns.  I am there to listen, to understand, and to help you make sense of your thoughts and feelings. I am also there to maintain safety for you and for effective therapy.

My framework for therapy is informed by a multiplicity of psychodynamic theoretical streams including relational psychoanalysis, object relations, affect regulation, attachment theory, and psychoanalytic and trauma-informed approaches. In your therapy, we work together to co-create and facilitate some durable change in the areas of living that are troubling you.

Your sixty-minute session is a place apart from the busyness and activities that require your attention day to day. This space is held for you to safely and effectively reflect, risk, and restore.

I completed my training at The Centre for Training in Psychotherapy (CTP) in 2021 after ten years of participation in their multi-modal holistic education program.

In addition, and previous to my formal preparation for the professional practice of psychotherapy, I was self-employed in the service industry for over thirty years. Over this time, I was also drawn to exploration, practice, and work in the expressive arts of acting and music.

My experience as a client in a long-term psychotherapy left me deeply changed in a wide range of durable life-affirming ways.  I approach my clinical work grateful for the opportunity to help other people co-construct change for the betterment of their unique lives.
