Psychotherapy can be a lot of things, but one important aspect involves tapping into your own potential in order to live an authentic life. Grounded in dialogue, psychodynamic psychotherapy allows you a space to speak freely and in an unedited way. You and I, together, will pay attention to words, silences, and bodily sensations in order to uncover a story that is uniquely yours.

I work with an anti-oppression lens. I strive to be mindful and aware of the many aspects that make up your identity and the way they intersect and interact within your world. My social location as a queer, white, able-bodied person factors into our therapeutic relationship. I am not suggesting that this will be the focus of our work together but it’s important to me to let you know how I think about the systems in which we all live.

I consider therapy to be a collaboration between the two of us. Through our conversations, we will explore what might be going on beneath the surface, and what is not yet in your conscious awareness. Over time and at your own pace, together we will explore your current life, relationships, your familial history, and the systems in which you live. Therapy is hard work, but I assure you – change is possible.

After completing a Bachelor of Social Work in 1993, I began working in Toronto youth shelters. Over the course of the next 10 years, I heard many stories from young people of how difficult their school experiences had been, which in turn led me into a 17-year career as a public school teacher.

I have now come full circle, graduating from the University of Toronto in 2015 with a Master of Social Work degree and practicing as a Registered Social Worker (RSW). I have also completed an intensive 6-year psychodynamic psychotherapy training program at the Centre for Training in Psychotherapy (CTP).

If we both decide that we may be a good fit, we will meet once a week for 50-minute sessions. Psychodynamic psychotherapy is best suited for once a week sessions, therefore, shifting to bi-weekly or once a month will not be possible.
