Being human can be tough! If you are struggling, feeling stuck and/or want to improve your well-being, therapy can help. Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a type of talk therapy that helps you explore and understand your deeper, often hidden thoughts and feelings. It also helps you discover what drives and influences you. By looking at these influences and the patterns they create, you can see how they affect your life today and open up more internal space for change. Increased self-awareness can improve your mental and emotional well-being and create capacity to build a stronger, more satisfying sense of self.

My approach is to create a confidential, safe, compassionate and, where appropriate, playful space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and life experiences. Together, we will look at your challenges, goals and strengths to better understand your emotions and thoughts. At a pace that works for you, we’ll work on the issues that might be affecting your mental and emotional well-being. My goal is to support you in your journey toward self-discovery and personal growth so you can live a more fulfilling and balanced life.
As a psychodynamic psychotherapist, I practice medium to long-term therapy. I work with individuals in 50-minute virtual or phone sessions, generally meeting weekly or biweekly.
I am a versatile person with a wide range of skills, from the arts to logistics to technical systems. I love building, fixing and creating things with whatever is available.
I came to psychotherapy during my own journey of self-discovery in a challenging time of life when I needed help. As I began the tough process of facing my unhealthy patterns and learning how to care for myself, I realized how refreshing and freeing it is to understand what I want, what obstacles stand in my way, and what living a more fulfilling life means for me. Now, as a psychotherapist, I am passionate about helping others in their path of self-discovery and healing.
I work virtually or via phone. If you have questions or would like to schedule a no-charge 30-minute consultation, please email me at rachel.vanslig@gmail.com or phone me at 437-888-2276, or visit my site at: https://sites.google.com/view/rvs-therapy
