A search for understanding yourself in the world may begin with a thought or feeling that it’s time to find support, to have someone to speak to. Working with a psychotherapist is a confidential place of your own, a point of contact with another human being, trained and informed, who can hold a space for you to ask the most difficult questions. This relationship is built upon trust and honesty, leading to deeper levels of awareness. Coming to an understanding of yourself takes time, commitment, and emotional safety that the right psychotherapist can provide for you, allowing what previously was unconscious or not seen to become conscious.
The work of being in therapy can be emotionally difficult. After all, it is “therapy”, and getting started can feel awkward and strange. But it is well worth it, as many come to see their therapist as a person who is there for them, someone who will be honest with them, and have their best interests at heart.
A good therapeutic alliance supports your ability to navigate through life.

As a psychotherapist I believe my work with clients is about awareness with honesty. I believe that you cannot come into deeper levels of awareness without honesty, and honesty and awareness only arise when you can trust another. I do my best to create a compassionate, honest, and safe space for my clients that allows and clears the way for the hidden or lost parts of self to finally emerge and shine through with feeling. I work to help you open the space in yourself to recognize and feel your potential and create the life you want to live. Along the way, you come to understand and feel what’s holding you back from that life or potential.
I am a trained psychodynamic therapist with eight years of concentrated study at the Centre for Training in Psychotherapy. I came to the work of being a therapist through my own therapeutic work, which began with trying to understand my own issues and feelings around anger. This was just the beginning of my journey. What brings us first into therapy is often not the main issue, but actually may be a symptom of deeper underlying issues that may have never been addressed or brought into awareness.
I also have a background in yoga and meditation that started before my training to be a therapist, and I see yoga and meditation as vehicles to awareness. I discovered yoga and meditation over a decade ago, and they continue today as practices that help to support my own navigation through life. These practices may subtly influence how I may work with clients as well. I understand the human condition of suffering and that life includes a level of suffering that we cannot escape, that compassion for others is incomplete unless it includes yourself, and that it’s okay to find support to help us through our suffering.
If you feel you would like to get in touch with me, I prefer first contact to be made by phone at 416-303-7119, if possible within regular business hours. I offer an initial in-person consultation for a fee of $50 at my Toronto office to answer any questions and to see if we are a good fit to start working together. Phone, Skype and FaceTime sessions are also available when necessary.
