In therapy, you have a safe space to explore parts of yourself that may have been kept hidden. This time is dedicated to you, during which you can freely share your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours without fear of judgment. Through connected dialogue we aim to better understand the events that have shaped your life, make connections, and examine patterns.

This process of supported self-inquiry is an invaluable tool for personal growth and transformation.  Being seen and heard by an empathetic listener can foster understanding yourself and your experiences more deeply.

Through exploring your thoughts and beliefs with compassion and curiosity, we create fertile ground for new perspectives to emerge. Together, we will define strategies to help you generate clarity and resilience, strengthen valued relationships, and improve your well-being.

My approach to therapy is psychodynamic, which means we explore how past experiences and unconscious patterns influence your current feelings and behaviours. By examining how early life events and hidden conflicts contribute to your emotional struggles, we can bring them to light and work towards resolution.

I combine this approach with insights from other approaches. This includes intersubjectivity theory, which holds that we are shaped by and understand the world through our experiences with others; and attachment theory, which shows how our early relationships with caregivers influence the way we emotionally connect with others later in life. I also draw on mindfulness and body-centered practices. Together, we’ll determine the best therapeutic path for you.

Our sessions are typically 50 minutes long and can be held in person or online. I believe in client-led therapy, which means you set the pace and direction of our work. I value your unique perspective and tailor my approach accordingly, emphasizing your potential for growth and healing.

From early on, I’ve been drawn to exploring emotional depths and remain fascinated by how we create meaning in our lives. My varied personal journeys connect by a common thread—they’re an intricately woven whole, greater than the sum of its parts.

My education and BA is in communications, women’s studies, and interdisciplinary studies in sexuality, which ignited my curiosity in the hidden narratives that permeate our surroundings. I’ve spent significant time acquiring and selling vintage goods, captivated by the stories these artifacts reflect about our past. I’m deeply committed to environmental stewardship, seeing parallels between personal growth and the natural cycles of change and renewal. Additionally, being a parent continually challenges and nurtures my personal growth.

Through personal therapy and a rigorous experiential education at The Center for Training in Psychotherapy, I discovered a path to integrating my diverse experiences. In therapy we listen for unspoken voices, uncover narratives that reveal our truths, integrate lost parts of ourselves, and understand our past to liberate ourselves from its constraints.

I deeply respect the diversity of human experience and am keenly interested in understanding the internal and the external systems that shape our lives, for better or worse. It would be an honour to accompany you in your self-discovery.

I meet with clients in person; however, my office is accessible by one flight of stairs. For greater accessibility or convenience, virtual sessions are an option.

I provide a free 30-minute consultation to see if we are a good match. To schedule a meeting, email me at andersontherapy1@gmail.com.
