Psychotherapy is a process of developing awareness and self understanding. This can bring about positive change in relationships, in decision-making, in work and creativity, in how we interact with what most disturbs or delights us. As the work unfolds, we often have to sit with uncertainty for a while, feeling our way towards the particular words to express who we are, where we’ve been, and what we’re hoping for.
Sessions are 50 minutes and we typically meet once or twice a week, in person at Spadina and Dupont, online, or by phone.
My approach is shaped by deep listening and reflection, and by the belief that each person requires something different. I try to offer a space where you can speak as freely and openly as possible, at a pace that works for you. Everything is confidential, and no subject is off the table.
Every therapeutic relationship is unique, and through that unique relationship new ways of thinking, feeling, and relating to the past, present, and future can emerge.
Before training as a psychotherapist at the Centre for Training in Psychotherapy, a rigorous six year program, I worked as a writer, teacher, and editor. I have a particular interest in the creative process and in the ways emotions and language collide. I’m especially curious about moments, in therapy and otherwise, when it feels as though we have found our own voice.
I offer a no-charge 30-minute consultation, in person or online. This is a chance to meet, ask questions, and get a sense of each other. You can reach me at jules@lowbeer-lewis.ca to set up a consultation. I typically respond within 24 hours. My fee is $125/session and I offer limited slots for sliding scale.
