Therapy offers a rare opportunity to slow down and pay attention to your experience in a different way. It is a space where thoughts, feelings, memories, and questions can be explored openly, without pressure to have everything figured out.
Together, we become curious about what lies beneath recurring emotions, relationship difficulties, or a sense of feeling stuck. By tracing connections between past and present experiences, patterns that feel confusing or unknown can begin to make more sense. What appears as anxiety, self-doubt, or conflict often reveals something important about your needs, relationships, and ways of being in the world.
As these patterns come into focus, new possibilities can emerge—not through quick fixes, but through a deeper understanding of yourself and the freedom that understanding can bring.
My approach to therapy is psychodynamic, which means we explore how past experiences and unconscious patterns influence your current feelings and behaviours. By examining how early life events and hidden conflicts contribute to your struggles, we can bring them to light and work towards resolution.
I also integrate ideas from other approaches, including attachment theory, which explores how relationships with caregivers and siblings influence how we relate to others in adulthood. I sometimes utilize mindfulness and body-centered practices when words can be difficult to find. Together, we’ll find the approach that best supports your needs.
Our sessions are typically 50 minutes long and can be held in person or online. I believe in client-led therapy, which means you set the pace and direction of our work. I value your unique perspective and invite your insight and feedback.
My path hasn’t been straightforward, but it feels connected by a steady interest in depth, story, and transformation. I didn’t always see these links; it has been through my own work in therapy that I’ve come to notice them more clearly and understand them.
My background in communications, women’s studies, and sexuality studies helped me become more aware of both the visible and hidden stories that shape our lives. I’ve also spent years working with vintage objects, drawn to the histories they carry. More recently, I’ve developed a deep care and advocacy for the natural world and its inherent interconnectedness. Becoming a parent has been one of my most ongoing and humbling teachers.
My clinical training at The Center for Training in Psychotherapy sharpened my understanding of the value of paying attention to what sits beneath the surface. Therapy can be a space where patterns become clearer, inner experiences can be held in new ways, and different meanings can begin to emerge.
I bring respect for the complexity of human experience and a genuine interest in how both our inner and outer worlds shape who we become and we are becoming. It would be an honour to accompany you in that exploration.
I offer in-person sessions at my office, conveniently located near the UofT campus. Please note that the office is accessible by one flight of stairs. For added accessibility and convenience, virtual sessions are also available.
I provide a free 30-minute consultation to see if we are a good match. To schedule a meeting, email me at andersontherapy1@gmail.com.
