You are here because you hope for change.
At some point in our lives, many of us will find ourselves at a similar crossroad.
It is unsettling to have more questions than answers, more pressure than peace, more conflict than clarity.
Whatever stress, confusion, stuck pattern, emotional distress, or crisis brings you to question things in your life, psychotherapy offers the possibility to explore your dissatisfactions and difficulties in a new way.
The rapport between you and your therapist is an important component of a positive therapeutic experience. It is this unique relationship that offers the foundation for healing, growth and change.
I believe in the value of listening closely to the particular ‘story’ of every client and how it comes to be expressed. Our ‘stories’ are often messy, complex and confusing. Our lives are populated with numerous characters – some beneficial and some not; changing circumstances that are often out of our control; and our own reactions to all of it which we often don’t fully understand.
Personal and professional experience has shown me that our formative years, and our wounds from the past, influence how we see ourselves and relate to others in the present.
Making connections between then and now allows for fresh insights and can uncover hidden strengths and abilities. Thoughtful conversation and supportive feedback from a curious and attuned therapist can help us feel meaningfully understood and give us the confidence to make changes that are right for us.
We come to therapy for different reasons and on different time lines. While I am experienced with longer term psychotherapy I have found it can be helpful to meet with some clients for a shorter period.
If there is an issue you want to explore or a nagging question that won’t go away I am happy to meet with you for a defined number of sessions. If you choose to continue, you will be welcome.
Beyond my professional training, I am committed to ongoing professional and personal development, but it is the experience of being with my clients at important crossroads that continues to most deeply influence my approach to this work.
Like many of my colleagues on this site I come from a varied background. For me this includes professional dance, city government, public relations and business, giving me a broad perspective and appreciation of varied lives and experiences.
